There are cleans… and then there are Cleans.
This chain walked into Jewellers Vault like it had just returned from a year-long backpacking trip through the Outback-no sunscreen, no hat, just pure grit and determination.
We took one look at it and knew this wasn't going to be a gentle wipe-and-go situation. Oh no. This was a job for rolled-up sleeves, elbow grease, and maybe a motivational playlist.
As we scrubbed, buffed and polished, we're pretty sure we gained some bonus arm definition. Who needs the gym when you've got jewellery this dirty? But after some serious sparkle rehab, this chain came back to life - shining like it had just received a second chance at glam.
Moral of the story? Even the toughest-looking jewellery deserves a spa day.

What Makes Handmade Jewellery Special?
We've all heard the saying "It's the little things that count" - and when it comes to handmade jewellery, those little things make all the difference! ✨
So, what exactly sets a handmade piece apart from a cast one? Let’s break it down (without getting too serious, promise 😉):
1. Made Just for YouHandmade means details can be tweaked to suit your taste. Want the claws a little sharper, the band a touch thinner, or the setting tilted just so? Done. No cookie-cutter designs here!
2. Your Story, Your MaterialsOne of our favourite parts of handmade work is reusing your old gold and stones. Grandma's ring, dad's chain, that forgotten gem in your drawer - all can be given new life. Cast pieces can't be made this way, so handmade is the only option if you want your history woven in.
3. Tiny Flaws = Big CharmMachines make perfect copies. Humans? Not so much! Handmade pieces have character - those subtle differences that prove your ring isn't "one of a thousand," but truly one of a kind.
4. Better Quality ControlWhen hands, not machines, are shaping and soldering your piece, every single step is watched carefully. Your jeweller's eyes (and steady hands!) are on it the whole way.
5. ConnectionThere's something special about knowing the person who made your ring, bracelet, or pendant. A conversation turns into a sketch, and a sketch becomes something you'll treasure for a lifetime. 💍
At the end of the day, handmade jewellery isn't just about the sparkle - it's about your story, your choices, and your connection to the piece. And that? That's pretty special. 💎✨

Take a Guess at What Happened to This Ring!
We'll admit — some jewellery mysteries are never solved. This one is sure to go down in Jewellers Vault history as the most "squished" ring we've ever seen!😬
Now, we don't ask too many questions when rings arrive looking like they've barely survived 12 rounds in the boxing ring. Instead, we just vow to try our very best to bring them back to life.
The challenge with "unsquishing" a ring is that it's never a guarantee. The pressure that bent the gold in the first place often weakens it, and there's always the risk of stones loosening or even falling out. Cracks, chips, and unexpected surprises can happen.
In this case, we gave our client the heads-up:
"There's a chance this won't go smoothly. Are you sure you want us to try?"
Her response? "Well, it's not like I can wear it in this state. Give it a go!"
And so we did. Luckily, the stars aligned and this repair went more smoothly than we dared to hope. With a little patience (and maybe a few crossed fingers), we were able to reshape the ring into a wearable condition again.
Was it perfect? No piece ever is after such trauma. But was it wearable, beautiful, and full of memories again? Absolutely. And that’s what matters most. 💎

From Worn to Reborn: A Sentimental Redesign Story
Some rings carry so much more than sparkle - they carry a lifetime of love. ✨
Our client came to us with her engagement and wedding set that, sadly, had become a bit of a headache. Over the years, she had lost multiple stones. The original manufacturer had reached their limit with replacements, and she was left facing a lifetime of worry every time a claw caught on something.
But rather than continue the cycle of replacing and repairing, she chose something bold and beautiful: a complete redesign. 💎
Here’s how we reimagined her rings, while keeping the heart of the original design alive:
1️⃣ No More Claws
The first step was simple - say goodbye to claws that snagged and loosened stones. We opted for a more secure design to protect her gems and her peace of mind.
2️⃣ One Stone, One Family
At the centre sits her main stone, symbolising her family: one family, one stone. Strong, unified, whole.
3️⃣ Two Bands, Two Children
We gave the design a wide profile to echo the look of two bands, without the wear and tear of rings rubbing together. These two bands represent her two beloved children.
4️⃣ 24 Stones Around the Edge
Every one of those 24 little stones represents the day of the month she married the love of her life.
5️⃣ Four Stones Around the Centre
And those four smaller stones surrounding the main one? They honour the month of their wedding.
This client says this ring was about family, we think it's so she doesn’t have to remember her wedding date!
The result? A redesign that doesn't just sparkle - it tells her story. 💍 A ring filled with love, memory, and meaning, built to last a lifetime.

The Golden Rule of Jewellery Care: Last On, First Off
Jewellery is more than just an accessory — it’s often a treasured gift, a symbol of love, or a piece of personal history. That’s why caring for it properly makes all the difference in how it looks and lasts.
Here’s one of the simplest rules of thumb: jewellery should be the last thing you put on in the morning, and the first thing you take off in the evening.
We know, we know — life gets busy, and sometimes that doesn’t quite happen. But here’s why it’s a good goal to keep in mind:
💧 Moisturisers & Lotions: These can leave behind residues that dull gemstones, cause buildup in small crevices, and even weaken settings over time.
🌸 Perfumes & Sprays: The alcohol and chemicals in perfumes, hairsprays, and deodorants can tarnish metals and cloud the brilliance of stones.
🧼 Soaps & Cleansers: Everyday soaps (and especially harsher cleaning products) can damage delicate stones like pearls and opals, while also leaving films that dull sparkle.
By saving your jewellery for the very last step of your routine, you’re helping protect it from unnecessary exposure to chemicals. And by making it the first thing you take off at night, you’re preventing wear from tossing, turning, and snagging while you sleep.
A small change, but one that can keep your jewellery shining beautifully for years to come! ✨
