Some jewellery waits years for its moment.
These beautiful gemstones had been tucked away for longer than their owner cared to admit. Every now and then she'd come across them, think, "I really should do something with these," and then life would get in the way. Eventually, she decided enough was enough.
She gathered every piece of old gold she could find. Broken jewellery. Pieces she'd fallen out of love with. Items sitting in drawers that hadn't seen the light of day in years. Instead of letting them continue collecting dust, she brought them into Jewellers Vault to see what was possible.
She knew one thing from the beginning. She didn't want something subtle.
She wanted a statement piece.
The challenge was that her gemstones weren't all matching shapes. Finding inspiration online proved frustrating because most designs simply weren't made for a collection like hers. Rather than trying to force her stones into someone else's design, we sat down together and talked through what she loved, what she didn't, and how she wanted the finished piece to feel when she wore it.
Then inspiration struck.
We created a design that embraced the individuality of each gemstone instead of hiding it. Clean, elegant claw settings allow every stone to catch the light from every angle, while the overall design brings them together into one bold, eye-catching piece.
It's proof that sometimes the best designs aren't found on Pinterest or in a catalogue. They're created from a conversation, a little creativity, and jewellery that already has a story to tell.
If you've got gemstones or old jewellery sitting in a drawer because you don't know what to do with them, maybe it's time to give them their moment too.

Some jewellery is made to celebrate a moment. Other pieces become part of everyday life.
Quite a few years ago, we had the pleasure of handmaking both an engagement ring and wedding ring for this lovely client. From the moment she slipped them onto her finger, they rarely left her side. They accompanied her through work, family life, adventures, celebrations, and everything in between.
As the years passed, those treasured rings became a true reflection of a life well lived. Unfortunately, the original design wasn't quite as resilient as its owner. Her active and hands-on lifestyle meant the claws holding her stone began showing signs of wear much sooner than expected.
When she came back to Jewellers Vault, we discussed the best way to protect her beloved stone for many more years to come. The answer was a bezel setting.
Unlike traditional claws, a bezel surrounds the stone with a protective rim of precious metal, offering exceptional security while maintaining a beautiful, timeless appearance. It was the perfect solution for someone who wears and loves her jewellery every day.
As luck would have it, she and her husband had also been considering an eternity ring to mark another chapter in their journey together. Rather than simply updating the engagement ring, we were able to create something even more special.
While remaking the engagement ring into its new bezel setting, we also handcrafted a matching eternity ring designed to sit perfectly alongside her wedding set. The result was a collection that honoured the rings she had cherished for years while giving them renewed strength and a fresh new look.
We love projects like this because they remind us that jewellery isn't static. It evolves alongside the people who wear it. Sometimes the most meaningful jewellery transformations aren't about changing styles - they're about ensuring treasured pieces can continue to be worn, loved, and enjoyed for decades to come.
After all, the best jewellery isn't hidden away in a box. It's jewellery that is worn every day and built to keep up with life's adventures.

Fri-Yay! A Jewellery Journey That Came Full Circle
Does anyone know what today is?
Fri-yay!
Now, you might be thinking, "Why all the excitement? Fridays happen every week!"
Well, this Friday feels a little different because we're sharing a story that has been part of the Jewellers Vault workshop for quite some time - and we think our chapter in it has finally come to an end.
Some time ago, a client came to us with a very special inherited ring. It was a single band with a wide profile, and while she loved the sentimental value behind it, the style wasn't quite right for her. She wondered if it could be transformed into something she'd enjoy wearing every day.
The answer, of course, was yes.
Using the original gold, we carefully crafted two matching bands from the one inherited ring. They were slim, elegant, and designed to be delicate in appearance while remaining strong enough to stand the test of time. The client was thrilled with the result.
But as often happens with jewellery, tastes evolve.
After wearing the bands for some time, she realised she didn't actually want two identical rings. She loved the idea of having a matching pair, but wanted one band to be slightly wider than the other to create a little more visual interest.
So she came back.
Once again, we melted down the very same gold and started fresh. The matching bands were transformed into two new rings - similar, but beautifully different. This time, one was slightly wider, creating the perfect balance she had been searching for.
And she absolutely loved them.
One of the most wonderful things about reusing your own gold is that your jewellery story doesn't have to end with a single redesign. Your pieces can continue to evolve alongside you, reflecting your changing style while preserving the memories and sentiment that make them so special.
Jewellery isn't static. It grows with us, changes with us, and sometimes takes a few journeys before it becomes exactly what we're looking for.
And that's perfectly okay.
In fact, it's one of our favourite parts of what we do.
