✨ What an exciting November it's turned into! ✨
A few weeks ago I got a very mysterious email letting me know I was a finalist for the Stan Green Award for Sales and Customer Service through the Capalaba Rotary Club…
And honestly? I had no idea what it was or how I was even entered! 😅
What I did know was how honoured I felt - someone out there valued an interaction with me enough to put my name forward for something so special. That alone meant a lot!
Fast forward to Monday night… award presentation night… storms hit… damage control had to be done ⛈️… and I couldn’t attend.
Then I found out — I won! 🏆
And yesterday the lovely Collin from Rotary popped into Jewellers Vault to hand-deliver this beauty 💍✨

Why Ring Sizes Will Never Be “One Size Fits All” - And Why That's Okay!
Have you ever wondered why ring sizes aren't one-size-fits-all?
Me too - especially when you try on three different rings in three different stores and somehow walk out being three different sizes!
Here's the secret no one really talks about: ring sizing isn't universal.
Every jewellery store seems to have their own idea of what a size M, N, or O should feel like. It’s like stepping into a world where the rules change depending on the shopfront.
And even when two rings are technically the exact same size, they'll often feel completely different. A thin, delicate band will feel looser than a chunky band wrapped in stones. A hollow ring can feel lighter and roomier, while a solid ring can feel snug because of the weight.
Same size. Totally different experience.
Do I think the jewellery world needs a standardized, international sizing system?
Absolutely.
But here's the truth:
Even if every brand and every store used the exact same measurements… rings would still feel different on your hand. Design, thickness, weight, and profile all play a huge part in comfort and fit.
So if you've ever felt confused, frustrated, or convinced that your finger magically changes size from store to store - you're not alone. The ring wasn't wrong. The sizing system is just a little chaotic.
And honestly?
That's part of the beauty of jewellery. Every piece is unique - including the way it fits.

Does anyone recognise this beauty?
This lovely ring has been part of our client's everyday sparkle for quite some time now. We originally crafted it with three bezel-set diamonds: one centre stone and two smaller diamonds set into the band. But as time went on, our client realised the design wasn't quite reflecting her style anymore. The two extra bezels, while beautiful, were competing a little too much with her main stone — and she wanted that one to shine bright like the diamond it is!
So, back to the bench it went.
We carefully removed the two bezel-set diamonds from either side of the centre stone, brought the two bands closer together to tighten the design, and replaced the old bezels with small polished dots of white gold. The result? A cleaner, more refined version of the original ring - still sentimental, still personal, just a little more “her”.
And for those already asking, “But what did you do with the stones?”
Patience, my friends. We have another story coming your way soon… and those two diamonds may just be starring in it.

A Sentimental Sparkle for Someone Special
Handmade, sentimental pieces really do make for the perfect gift for a loved one, don't they? There's just something extra magical about wearing a piece of jewellery that carries both beauty and history.
This client came to us with a small handful of sentimental rings - pieces that once shone brightly but had since been tucked away, unworn and waiting for a new chapter. He wanted to create something truly special for the special lady in his life, and his first question was one we love hearing:
“Can you use the gold and stones from these old rings to make something new?”
Yes. Absolutely yes. One of our favourite things to do.
His request was simple and heartfelt:
✨ Something that doesn't stick up
✨ Something she can wear every day
✨ Something crafted from the pieces that meant the most
So that's exactly what we designed!
We opted for bead-set stones to keep the ring wonderfully flat and comfortable for daily wear. To add charm and personality, we created a random stone layout - there's something beautifully organic about the way each gem sits, almost like they found their place on their own.
But the true standout?
Those gorgeous wavy edges. A subtle detail, but one that gives the ring its own identity - soft, fluid, and completely unique, just like the story behind it.
A new treasure, shaped from the old. A sentimental story, made wearable again. And a gift that's sure to be cherished for years to come.
